This is the only rafting trip with a Colorado Springs departure, making it an ideal choice for those staying in Colorado Springs who prefer not to navigate the mountain roads. Beginning at the AOW outpost, you’ll board 4 x 4 jeeps and blaze a trail with your driver through the back-country roads around Pikes Peak towards Echo Canyon River Expeditions. After arriving at Echo and the 8 Mile Bar & Grill, you’ll enjoy a hearty lunch before gearing up for your rafting trip. You choose the speed of your rafting tour – go for the gusto on the Royal Gorge or take the easier course of Bighorn Sheep Canyon. Following your rafting tour your driver returns you to the start of your day in Colorado Springs. This exclusive tour can only be reserved by directly calling our friends at Adventures Out West.
AOW’s guides are all very personable and quite the characters! Their goal is to ensure you and your family have a memorable tour creating lasting memories. The Jeep and Raft Package takes place in the great outdoors of Colorado, so don’t be surprised to feel the wind in your hair. Your jeep tour will take you to high elevations and remote locations with rough roads. This is a true adventure! The tour vehicles are well-maintained and have been modified to enhance your experience, but realize they don’t offer the same protections as standard vehicles from the elements. Wool blankets, water and snacks are provided, but you are encouraged to dress in layers and prepare for the weather. Seat belts and car seats are not required but recommended. Please bring your own car seats if desired. Plan on roughly two hours of jeep travel for the morning portion of this tour, and a little over an hour on the return drive after your raft trip.
Upon arriving at the Echo Canyon location, your guide / driver will get you settled at Echo’s 8 Mile Bar & Grill. Lunch is included in this package and you’ll need those calories for the next leg of your adventure – white water rafting on the Arkansas River! When reserving your tour the folks at Adventures Out West will help you pick the right speed of raft trip. You can opt for family-class rafting on Bighorn Sheep Canyon, or take on the tougher rapids in the famous Royal Gorge. Wetsuit gear is available for rent at Echo Canyon, and you’ll want to bring along quick drying clothing to maximize comfort on the raft. Bathrooms and changing rooms are available as well at the Echo outpost.
After your rafting tour, you’ll have time to change into dry clothes and check out your rafting photos before loading up on the jeep to head back to Colorado Springs.
