Echo Canyon River Expeditions is devoted to providing exceptional family white water rafting trips – we’ve been doing just that since 1978. We began all those years ago offering one trip for families with young children – Bighorn Sheep Canyon – and one trip for families with kids age 14 years and up – the Royal Gorge. We’ve expanded a lot since then, but these two core trips are still the most popular family rafting trips we offer, and for good reason! The two trips appeal to such a wide range of guests and offer perfect family rafting trips Colorado style. That is, incredible Colorado scenery and classic white water thrills – all just one hour from Colorado Springs. Families with very young children, as young as 4 years of age, can now opt for the Family Float Trip. Our fastest growing family trip, Family Float is a short gentle float that finds us rafting the most picturesque section of Bighorn Sheep Canyon. Red rock cliffs tower over us in sections and lots of flat water between rapids means the kiddos are free to hop out now and again to cool off and experience the thrill of floating next to the raft! A light snack is included on this family white water rafting option – always popular with the young ones – and parents are encouraged to sit back relax and let their guide entertain the kids for a while. Now that’s what we call a vacation!
From those two core trips we’ve crafted a number of new trips and exciting family white water rafting packages designed to increase the level of fun and decrease the amount of time you spend planning the whole adventure! After all, you want to enjoy your vacation, not always be planning your next activity and destination.
Family white water rafting trips are available in a variety of locations throughout Colorado. Aside from our Echo Canyon rafting location near Colorado Springs and Cañon City, you can opt for a beginner-style trip near Buena Vista, on the breath-taking Browns Canyon section of the Arkansas River. We think you’ll agree this family rafting trip is one very special experience. Soon after beginning your trip you’ll see why the land around you was designated a National Monument. That’s right, a large tract of land next to Browns Canyon was named a National Monument in February of 2015. And don’t worry, there’s plenty of white water to keep you smiling the length of the canyon – lead by your experienced guide you’ll take on Pinball, Zoom Flume, Big Drop and more!
If you are confining your vacation to the Denver area, then consider family rafting trips on Clear Creek near Idaho Springs. Clear Creek is just 45 minutes from downtown Denver, and boasts a beginner family run on the Gold Rush section, or families with teens and older will appreciate the class IV rapids of Upper Clear Creek.
